Dr. Laura L. Walsh
Welcome — I’m glad you’ve found your way here. I’m Dr. Laura Walsh, a licensed clinical psychologist providing therapy for adults in Colorado and Illinois. I work with people facing challenges related to mood, anxiety, trauma, grief and suicide bereavement, ADHD, addictions, and life transitions — times when the path forward feels tangled or uncertain.
My approach to therapy is grounded in active partnership. You’re the expert on your own life and experiences; I’m the consultant you’ve brought in to help you examine patterns, uncover meaning, and find new ways forward. I don’t come with ready-made answers — together, we’ll explore what’s been holding you back and gently unravel the knots that make change feel difficult. I offer a space that’s both compassionate and structured, where curiosity and honesty guide the process.
My perspective has roots in how I grew up. My father was an engineer, and from him I learned to approach complexity with patience and precision. Even when life feels overwhelming, we can slow down and look carefully at each layer until something new emerges — clarity, movement, or a sense of ease.
At the heart of my work is a simple goal: to help you feel more grounded and empowered in your own life. I want you to trust your inner voice, make choices that reflect who you are, and move through the world feeling less swept away and more in command of your direction.
My clinical approach is informed by self psychology, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman relationship counseling, and narrative therapy — models that share a respect for human complexity, compassion, and growth.
