Dr. Laura L. Walsh is a clinical psychologist, widow, and stepmother.

After losing her wife to a psychosis-induced suicide, Laura embarked on a path to make sense of it all in hopes of providing comfort to her boys, the family, and the wider world.

Widowhood is a singular experience - no one knows the inside of a marriage except the two people in it. Thus, no one experiences the loss and accompanying experiences the same. Laura found no clear intersection of the elements. Her wife was a Chicago Police Detective where stress and PTSD run rampant. As a lesbian wife, there were no resources that spoke to her experiences. Typically considered the end of the depression road, her wife’s suicide was fueled by delusions and psychosis instead.

Her road to understanding the events, both clinically and personally, has led her here.
